Quiz Manager v 1.0

Hate Marking? Read this!

Please Note: Quiz Manager V2 has just been released. - there are a few enhancements which were not in version 1. The main improvements are important.
Quizzes will now run in an Web Browser! i.e. people can log in from the Internet etc. You can allocate particular quizzes to particular students (e.g. so they can login at home and do the Quiz or something...)

If your school has a computer network, you are in for a treat. Any teaching tool that genuinely saves time must be a good thing. Quiz Manager is one such tool that can save hours of work EVERY WEEK. The author, Andrew Johnson has written a brilliant program that to put simply, works!

Quiz Manager is actually two products.

The Quiz Manager software actually consists of two interactive programs - Quiz Manager and Quiz Runner.

The Quiz Manager itself does just that - it manages your quizes allowing you to create and edit multiple choice style questions. There is great flexibility in how you design each question. You can include more than one correct answer, diagrams, even sound. Each answer can be awarded a different number of marks.

OK, quiz ready, what next? Quiz Manager runs and manages each quiz. Students sit at their computer and login using the Quiz Runner software. Login is by entering their name, or just their own reference number is enough. Upon login, the teacher can monitor the progress of each student with the Quiz Manager. Information such as which question each student is on, and whether or not they need help (student check a box in Quiz Runner if they need help). A great feature is the ability to reset student answers. For example, if a student has exited a quiz in error you can reset their answers for the quiz, so nothing is lost.

Quizes have time limits, although you can specify that some students get extra time (special needs). A countdown clock keeps students informed. At any time the teacher can pause the quiz - this stops the countdown. Again a useful feature in case the quiz is interrupted for any reason.

At the end of the quiz, the student can get instant feedback as their mark can automatically be given to them using a popup box to display their score. Students will love this as they get instant feedback and to see their score in private - no reading out scores in front of the class.

Once the quiz is over, there are various reports that can be produced: Results by class, by student, by quiz, even printout full or condensed answer sheets for each students.

This software comes with complete tutorials on the CD. These show you how do do everything from set up the network to designing and running your quizes.

Not got time to make quizez?

If you have quizzes in a 'word-processed' form they can, in most cases, be
imported into Quiz Manager and then just an indication of the correct
answer(s) is/are required in QM. This technique is demonstrated in the CD
tutorials. If you have printed quizzes and a scanner and OCR software, then
this too could be used to make generating quizzes easier.

This is a valuable tool for any over-worked teacher (hands up!). Design a set of quizes for the topics you teach and let Quiz Manager take care of the rest - even marking.
